From Jolinda Hackett, your Guide to Vegetarian Food
Vegetarian Superbowl snacks should be quick and easy to prepare so that you can spend time enjoying the game, or screaming at the TV, depending on who's winning. You also want to make sure that you don't run out of food, so prepare plenty of extras, and don't forget to shop for plenty of beer and extra ice for the cooler if you need to! Enjoy your vegetarian or vegan Super Bowl party!

Super Bowl Snacks
It's just not the Super Bowl with out plenty of munchies, and being vegetarian doesn't have to mean missing out on spicy buffalo wings and greasy chili cheese fries. You can find my vegetarian and vegan versions of these classic game day flavors here.

Keep it healthy
If you'd rather eat on the light side and pass up the wings, here's a few lighter snacks that are still absolutely munch-able:
  • Apple and soy nut butter pita pockets (pictured)
  • Toasted pita chips with edamame hummus
  • Stuffed mushrooms with walnut pate
  • Vegetarian mini meatballs

  • Bean dip
Bean dip is always a safe stand-by. Vegetarians and omnivores both like it, and it's good for men, women, kids and adults. A true crowd pleaser. Several of these bean dip recipes are vegan as well. Sure, you could just pop open a can of bean dip from the 7-11, but why not try making your own? Pictured: Apricot salsa bean dip

    Meatballs and mini-meatballs!
For a quick and easy Super Bowl snack idea, use store-bought meat substitutes to shape some quick and easy vegetarian meatballs. Here's a few recipes to try:
  • Vegetarian meatballs
  • Mini meatballs in red currant jelly sauce
  • Gardein mini-meatballs in tomato sauce (pictured)

From Jen Hubley, your About Today Editor
Valentine's Day is on a Monday this year, which means that most of us will be feeling more groggy than romantic on the supposed most romantic day of the year. So maybe we're all better off getting away for a long weekend instead?

    Valentine's Day Getaways and Packages
My family lives all over the country now, so when I plan a getaway, I want to stay closer to home. Fortunately, this list has destinations all over the world. One of them is bound to be right next door.

Best New Hotels for Romance 2011
A friend of mine once expressed her life's ambition as, "Live in a hotel. Order room service every day." Whether or not that's your idea of fun for a lifetime, it's pretty great for a weekend.

    Cheap Valentine's Day Ideas
Let's say, though, that you don't have the money for a big getaway. (Hard to believe, with the economy in such lovely shape, but let's just say.) There's still plenty of fun stuff to do to celebrate the day.

Valentine's Ideas for Travelers ... and Stay-at-Home Types
Need more ideas? You can learn everything from how to improve your flirty texting skills to how to grow aphrodisiacs in our Valentine's Day special.

From Jen Hubley, your About Today Editor
At least three times this week, someone has suggested to me that we all run away to a warmer climate. I've enthusiastically agreed each time. At this point? I'm just waiting for someone to come up with a plan.

    Secret Mexican Beaches
Step one: Choose a place to go. My only requirement is that our destination be beach-oriented. I'm even willing to negotiate on waiters with drinks. (Although I think we'd be better off, honestly.)

How to Pick the Right Caribbean Island
Generally, when I think of beaches, I think of our local beach growing up, or I think of destination beaches like Florida or various Caribbean islands.

    Top 10 Thailand Beaches
All of which will do quite nicely, of course, but it's always worth it to think outside the beachy box, and consider new-to-me locales like Thailand or Africa.

7 Best Beaches in Central America
Honestly, if I can't actually go to the beach, I'll settle for looking at all of these pictures. If I concentrate hard enough, I think I can convince myself I'm really there.
